Connecting your domain to your KamHost hosting account is a quick and essential step to get your website online. In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through the two most common methods: updating nameservers and pointing via DNS records.
Method 1: Update Nameservers (Recommended)
This is the simplest and most reliable way to connect your domain to KamHost.
Step 1: Log in to Your Domain Registrar
Go to the website where you purchased your domain (such as Namecheap, GoDaddy, etc.) and log in to your account.
Step 2: Change Nameservers
Locate the DNS settings or Nameserver settings, then replace the existing nameservers with the ones below:
dns1.supremedns.com
dns2.supremedns.com
dns3.supremedns.com
dns4.supremedns.com
Save your changes.
Step 3: Wait for DNS Propagation
DNS updates usually take effect within 1 to 6 hours, but in some cases, they may take up to 24–48 hours to fully propagate worldwide.
Method 2: Point Domain Using A Record
If you prefer to keep your current DNS provider, you can manually point your domain using an A record.
Step 1: Get Your Server IP Address
Log in to your KamHost hosting control panel (https://cp.kamhost.com), then locate your server’s IP address under My Domains > Hosted Domains.
The Shared SSL IP is the recommended option, as we provide free SSL for your website even if you do not purchase one. If you are not using SSL, use the Default Route IP instead.
Step 2: Update DNS Records
Go to your domain’s DNS settings and add or edit the following records:
Root Domain (A Record)
Type: A
Host: @
Value: The IP address you found in Step 1
WWW Subdomain (CNAME Record)
Type: CNAME
Host: www
Value: yourdomain.com
Step 3: Save Changes and Wait
Save the changes, then allow time for DNS propagation (typically 1 to 6 hours).
Important Notes
- Do not use both nameservers and A records at the same time—choose one method only
- Make sure your domain is added to your KamHost hosting account. See the “How to Host a Domain Name” guide for more details.
- Double-check all values to avoid configuration errors
Conclusion
Pointing your domain to KamHost is a straightforward process whether you choose nameservers or manual DNS configuration. For most users, updating nameservers is the fastest and easiest method.
